Bourbon Peach Smash with Mint
Ripe summer peach muddled with mint and lemon, lengthened with bourbon and a splash of soda. Porch-drink physics.
Ingredients
- 2 oz bourbon (Buffalo Trace or Four Roses)
- 3 slice ripe peach
- 6 fresh mint leaves
- 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice
- 0.5 oz simple syrup
- 1 oz club soda
- 1 peach wedge and 1 mint sprig, for garnish
- ice
How to cook
- 1
In a cocktail shaker, muddle the peach slices, mint leaves, and simple syrup until the peach breaks down — about 20 seconds. Do not pulverize the mint or it goes bitter.
- 2
Add the bourbon and lemon juice. Fill with ice.
- 3
Shake hard for 10 seconds.
- 4
Double-strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice (or one big rock).
- 5
Top with the club soda. Garnish with a peach wedge and a slapped mint sprig (clap it between your palms once to release the oil).
Chef's note. Stone-cold ripe peaches matter — out of season, swap to muddled raspberries or a 0.5 oz pour of good peach liqueur (Mathilde or Giffard).
